Oh, little Addison Leigh... not so little anymore! Girl... you are gaining weight like no one's business. Currently sitting in the 98% for weight (13 lb 12 ounces) and 70% for height, you are mama's sweet little chunker. Here are weeks 5-8:
You are a completely different baby now than you were just a month ago. No longer a fussy girl, you are sweet, easygoing, and sleeping like a champ (you slept from 9pm-7am last night! didn't wake up once!). You still eat every 2-2.5 hours during the day, but if it means I get to sleep all night long, I'll take it!
We have a pretty good schedule going during the day... you eat for the first time around 7 or 7:30am, then are awake for about 45 min, then back asleep for the next 1.5-2 hours. Then we continue the eat/wake/sleep cycle all day and you eat for the last time between 6:30-7:30pm. Then you stay awake for an hour or so then go to sleep around 8:30-9 and sleep all night long. Sometimes you wake around 4am to eat, but then you're back to sleep until 7am. It's a beautiful thing, really.
You are smiling every day and cooing all the time. You enjoy spending time on your playmat (or "at the playground" as Hailey calls it) and are starting to grab at and hold onto toys. You love staring at yourself in the mirror and watching the bumble bees go round and round while in your swing.
You lost the hair on the top of your head around 5-6 weeks old, but it already grew back in... and it's brown! And your eyes are becoming a clearer shade of blue/grey as well. I guess you might end up looking like mommy after all!
You still won't take a binky. Or a bottle. For the time being I've given up on the binky, but I'd really, REALLY love it if you'd take a bottle. Then I could get out of the house by myself for an hour or two. But I'm not complaining. You are wonderful and I'm so blessed to have you!
One thing I do want to mention on here is the brief stint you had in Cardinal Glennon when you were 5 weeks old. Here's the story: 2 nights before Thanksgiving you spiked a fever of 101.1. Anything over 100.4 is dangerous in babies of your age, so we took you to Cardinal Glennon. They admitted you and we were there for 36 hours waiting for the results of the bloodwork, urine test, and spinal tap. Luckily everything came back negative. Turns out you just caught a cold virus from your snotty-nosed sister! The worst part for mommy and daddy was watching them stick you to put the IV in and hearing you scream from down the hallway as they did your spinal tap. We got to leave the hospital around 3pm on Thanksgiving and got to spend the rest of the holiday with our loved ones, feeling extra thankful that day! Here are some photos from that experience:
Your first Christmas is just 2 days away - our first as a family of 4! Mommy and Daddy got you a new hairbow, a book, and one outfit. I'm sure your grandparents, aunts & uncles will spoil you with more! Merry First Christmas, Baby Girl - we all love you so much!!
